Product Details

Apexazole® PBI (polybenzimidazole) fiber is currently the organic high-performance fiber with the most outstanding overall performance. Owing to its exceptional heat resistance, flame retardancy, chemical resistance, and mechanical properties, it is widely used in extreme‑environment applications such as aerospace, fire‑protection, high‑temperature filtration, and nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) protection.

 

Outstanding properties of PBI fiber:

  • High-temperature resistance: It can be used continuously at temperatures below 400°C, with a short-term temperature resistance of up to 500°C.
  • Flame retardancy: It is non‑combustible in air, burns slowly in oxygen, and self‑extinguishes when removed from the flame.
  • Chemical stability: Resistant to corrosion by strong acids, strong bases, and organic solvents.
  • Mechanical Properties: It exhibits high tensile strength, moderate elongation, and excellent textile properties.
  • Hygroscopicity: The moisture absorption rate is approximately 15%, higher than that of cotton, offering a pleasant hand feel and comfortable wear.
  • Radiation resistance: It exhibits excellent resistance to radiation such as ultraviolet and gamma rays.
  • Self-lubricity: It possesses excellent self-lubricating properties.
  • Low smoke toxicity: It produces fewer toxic gases during combustion and boasts high safety.
